I should attempt a bit harder for Alice, even if I didn't feel inclined to do then. Information technology would be similar taking a porcupine on a appointment and hoping you didn't upset it. Except, unlike Alice, they looked cute.

"Who could exist weaker and more vulnerable than someone with dementia? It's not so easy to hurt someone who has a voice, like the others." She gazed at me, her optics filled with love. "But you've got one, Bee. Use information technology for them. Come up what may."

My Review:

These storylines resonated for me equally I had too labored at a nursing home in the early 80s while working my mode through academy. And while I didn't have flaming blood-red pilus, I was in possession of ample curves and a bit extra where I didn't demand it, as was the main character of Belinda. Although I volition confess to having far more than lip and backbone to me than Belinda had been blessed with.

Sharley Scott did an excellent job in property to the accuracy of the period of big pilus, assorted music, slowly shifting attitudes, and the odd culture of the time. I got a bit nostalgic as fifty-fifty after all these years, I could put faces of my former patients and heinous co-workers to similar characters making their style through the storylines. The writing was easy to follow, engaging, well-paced, wryly amusing, and hit all the feels with emotive and evocative word choices.

I have read a couple of Sharley'south books and I have thoroughly enjoyed them. I read the synopsis for 'A Little Baboon Told Me' and it appealed to me on several dissimilar levels. So without further ado, I grabbed a cup of tea, grabbed my Kindle and settled down for an afternoon total of reading and reminiscing. I thoroughly enjoyed reading 'A Piddling Birdie Told Me' merely more about that in a bit.

I accept read a couple of Sharley's books and I take thoroughly enjoyed them. I read the synopsis for 'A Footling Birdie Told Me' and it appealed to me on several dissimilar levels. So without further ado, I grabbed a cup of tea, grabbed my Kindle and settled down for an afternoon full of reading and reminiscing. I thoroughly enjoyed reading 'A Little Baboon Told Me' but more most that in a bit.
I loved the character of Belinda and I warmed to her from the very start. In fact I began to think of her as a friend. She is a lovely immature lass, who is rather shy and she likewise has a distinct lack of self confidence, which isn't helped by her so called 'friend'. I could identify with her to a caste because I felt exactly the aforementioned as Belinda at her age. Belinda gets herself a job at a care abode and she actually starts to blossom whilst she is there. She begins to believe in herself, she makes genuine friends and she learns from the old people that she is paid to care for. I kept everything crossed that she got the 'happy ever after' ending that she so deserves. What happens? Well for the respond to that question and and so much more than you are just going to have to read the book for yourselves to find out as I am not going to tell you.
I thought that 'A Little Baboon Told Me' was a real hoot in more ways than 1. I loved the fact that the story was set up in 1988 as it brought back then many childhood memories for me. I was x in 1988 and I remember the groups and songs that the author mentions. I did have a particular fondness for Bros and I remember Scott & Charlene'due south nuptials. Anyhow I need to get back to the review rather than reminisce about my long lost youth.
I was drawn to this book by the synopsis alone and the story within the covers of the book sealed the deal as it were. As soon as I started to read the story that was it. To say that reading 'A Trivial Baboon Told Me' became addictive is a massive understatement. I would choice the volume upward merely intending to read a couple of capacity to fill in the odd half hour but I would become so wrapped up in the story that I would still be saturday there reading over an hour afterwards. If I wasn't reading this book and then I was thinking nearly information technology. I plant 'A Little Birdie Told Me' to be a delightful read and held my involvement from start to finish.
'A Fiddling Birdie Told Me' is superbly written. The author has one of those writing styles that is piece of cake to get used to and easy to become along with. In fact reading this book felt more like a chat between friends than reading an actual volume. I promise that makes sense. The author doesn't shy away from the more difficult subjects merely she treats them with great pity and sensitivity. I felt as though I was part of the story which is all thanks to Sharley'due south very vivid and realistic storytelling.
In brusque, I thoroughly enjoyed reading 'A Little Birdie Told Me' and I would recommend it to other readers. I will certainly exist reading more of Sharley'south piece of work in the time to come. The score on the Ginger Book Geek lath is a very well deserved 5* out of five*.

This was the perfect cozy mystery/personal growth story for these quarantine times. I loved the characters, the plot wasn't too outlandish and I lost some sleep because I couldn't put it down. When I was sometime enough, I did like Neighbours and was an avid follower of Scott and Charlene's romance. My favourite vocaliser of all time was Kylie Minogue who also played Charlene in Neighbours. I practice rmember I did non like Ghostbusters.

A Little Baboon Told Me is a fun and realistic blast-from-the-by. There's romance, many funny momemts and quirky loveable characters but a boss to beware of.

I often wondered, every bit a person who needs care, what information technology was like for care workers to do their job from a carer'south point of view. This novel gives a good and fascinating insight into that and the care organization at the time.

Belinda, or "Birdie," is likeable, cautious and empathic and I was hoping things would go well for her.

The volume is full of ups and downs for everyone and is very feel-good yet also has its more humble moments.

Very escapist and good pacing. I was really wanting to know what was going to happen adjacent. I would love to review more than of Sharley Scott'south piece of work.

Thanks to Sharley Scott for my ARC in commutation for an honest and voluntary review,

A Little Birdie Told Me is a snapshot of the 80s. Scott puts great care into the narrative place in fourth dimension. I graduated loftier schoolhouse and started college in 1988. Scott winks at her readers through topical jokes that, given the popularity with young folk of the 80s, volition unlikely become dated but could evade a certain audience but then the genre of women'south fiction itself can sometimes be a bit specific. Scott's humor will have broad appeal. Despite the attention to background detail, A Little Birdie Told Me is a quick read that flows really well.

Belinda is a very real character in desperate need of a win. She is insecure and, following a bit of a emotional fall where she's left higher and has to reimagine her potential career path, a bit fragile. When Belinda'due south loss of self leads her toward change, her best friend is that person who really isn't one to cheer her on. Again, haven't we all had that friend who likes to have u.s. down and then that they tin feel better or more successful? Scott addresses very serious issues (abuse, subjugation, etc....)  both with Belinda's visceral relationship with Tracy and in the narrative with the residents with a light merely effective hand.

However, as the story unfolds, information technology is and so much more than a tale of nostalgia. The central character, Belinda, is instantly likeable simply her transformation from a shy, passive young woman who battles with insecurities about her appearance, into a strong, confident individual who stands up for her principles, even when information technology means potentially losing friendships or her job, is a please, every bit is her growing relationship with co- worker Joe.

Yet, mayhap the most heartwarming aspect of the story is the evolution of the different characters at the residential dwelling where Belinda works. From the jovial Freda to the hilariously stubborn Alice amongst others, each grapheme brings a engaging chemical element to the story and is it incommunicable not to be drawn into their daily lives.

Similarly, the empathy shown past Belinda to the more vulnerable residents at the home, equally well as her decision, alongside Joe, to ensure they are being properly treated, is compelling and, as the reader, you find yourself willing them on in their quest, specially equally some of the scenes, particularly those involving Mrs Calam, can be quite upsetting to read.

The ending of the book, without giving away any spoilers, is a wonderfully satisfying conclusion and left me with a huge smile on my face! A thoroughly engaging, like shooting fish in a barrel read!

With thanks to the author and @rararesources for inviting me to accept role in the web log blitz for this volume.

A little flake of love, a niggling bit of drama, a trivial bit of secrets.

In the Eighties, Belinda is ready to showtime a new job. After her own share of unfortunate events, she works in a care home/ residential home, mainly cleaning toilets and emptying commodes.
It's not the job of dreams, but without a degree, she is not in the position to be picky on jobs.
Luckily she befriends colleague Joe, a very lovely and skillful-looking man. The closer they become, the more insecure Belinda becomes, because why would someone like him be interested in someone similar her, while he could get someone gorgeous as her best friend Tracey.
Merely slowly things are looking better for Belinda, considering the residents' are really addicted of her. However when possessions starting time to disappear and not all colleagues are treating the residents with the respect they earn, Belinda is not sure what to do. Should she dare to speak out, with risking her own chore? Or should she simply go on serenity?
With the guidance of Joe, Belinda is trying to exercise the right matter. Merely when it appears that Joe also has a cloak-and-dagger of his own, Belinda has to make an even more important decision that will too bear on the residents…

First of all, I was only two when this story is taking place 😃 So a few references were non that clear to me. But overall I truly enjoyed reading this blast from the by!

Despite her past, I admired Belinda and her backbone of not just giving upwards. Working in the home is not something she saw herself doing, but she is committed to the job and she starts to really care about the residents. She sees how some people are feeling alone and she does her best, even when her workhours are over, to brand these people a little bit happier.
And I call back that fifty-fifty in the present, we need more people similar Bee, caring and looking after those who have fought literally and so that we are where nosotros are now. The older people are often seen equally a burden, while they can still be a source of knowledge.

In the beginning, Bee is a very insecure adult female, lacking self – confidence. But slowly she evolves in a young woman, standing upward for the rights of the residents, and starts to come across also her self-worth. And thanks to Joe, she starts to run into how other people see her, a lovely, caring young woman with her heart at the correct place.
Fifty-fifty when she discovers the truth almost the missing possessions, she keeps in mind what the right thing to do is, even if it hurts someone nearby her.

I loved reading how this girl went from cleaning toilets to fighting for the care of the residents. And to read how she and Joe are getting closer, was just too sweetness!
Being a story taking place in the Eighties, there were a lot of funny references that I could perfectly imagine. And likewise at that place were bits that were hilarious to read about!

I plant this a very entertaining story with lovely moments, simply besides with secrets to exist uncovered.
Sometimes I was left shocked with how the residents were treated, realizing that unfortunately this is still a fact in present times. Simply with people like Bee and Joe, the injustice can be undone with the caring people that truly take our honey ones best interest at heart!
